Every site has a Settings tab where the essentials live: your web address, your SSL certificate, and your admin login details. This page walks through what you will find there.
One note before we start: the Settings tab appears once your site has finished installing. If you just created the site and do not see it yet, wait a few minutes for setup to complete.

The Domain field
At the top of the tab is your site's web address. Every new site starts on a temporary address that we create for you, and it works right away. When you are ready to use your own domain name, you type it here. Our guide on using your own domain covers the whole process step by step.
Next to the Domain field you will find:
- An Install SSL or Uninstall SSL button, depending on whether your site currently has a certificate. More on that in SSL certificates.
- A View Site link that opens the site in a new tab, handy for checking your work.
Your admin login
Below the domain you will see the Admin Email for the site. This is the email you signed into Omeka with, and it is shown here for reference only, so you cannot edit it.
Next to it is the admin password we generated when the site was created. It is hidden by default. Click the reveal icon to see it, or use the copy button to grab it without displaying it on screen. This is the easiest way to recover your login if you ever forget it.

Backups and deleting
Two more things live on this page:
- A backup button in the page header lets you create a backup of the site on demand. See manual backups and downloads for what happens next.
- A Delete action removes the site entirely. This one is permanent, so please read deleting a site before you use it.
That is the whole tab. Most people visit it once to set up their domain and then rarely need it again, but it is good to know where your password lives when you need it.
