Installation

Requirements

  • Omeka S 4.2 or later
  • PHP 8.1 or later
  • A theme built on the Theme Engine, installed in themes/: Vitrine 0.6 or later, Confetti, or another RefBytes theme. Vitrine 0.4 and 0.5 work too.

The module has no Composer dependencies and loads nothing from a CDN.

Installing

  1. Copy the DesignStudio folder into your Omeka S modules/ directory.
  2. Log in to the admin as a Global Administrator.
  3. Go to Modules and click Install next to Design Studio.

Installing creates no database tables.

After installing, every site whose theme the customizer supports gets:

  • a Customize link in the site's admin menu;
  • a Customize with live preview button on the site's Theme page and on its theme settings page.

Sites with other themes do not show these links. See Opening the customizer.

Replacing Vitrine Studio

Design Studio is the new name of Vitrine Studio. To switch:

  1. Install Design Studio as above. Drafts you had in Vitrine Studio carry over.
  2. Go to Modules and click Uninstall next to Vitrine Studio.

Running both at once shows two customize buttons; uninstall Vitrine Studio once Design Studio is installed.

Upgrading

Copy the new version over the existing modules/DesignStudio folder, then visit Modules and click Upgrade if it is offered.

Uninstalling

Go to Modules and click Uninstall next to Design Studio. Uninstalling deletes every unpublished draft (they are stored as user settings named design_studio_draft_<site id>). Published theme settings are not touched: they belong to the theme.
