FAQs

Troubleshooting

Why don't the colors look exactly like the ones I chose?

Plinth darkens or lightens a color wherever text in that color, or on that color, would be hard to read, keeping its hue. The Style book page template shows the colors in use.

Why is a work's label empty, or missing its artist's dates?

The wall label reads Creator, Title, Date, Medium, Extent, Provenance, Identifier and Abstract or Description. Fill in those values, and link the Creator to the artist's own item, whose Date holds the artist's dates. See Item pages and wall labels.

My work's page shows the title twice, or no title.

When a work and its wall label sit side by side, the label is the visible title. If you moved the media gallery or the wall label to another region, the page's own title shows instead, and the label repeats it.

Why are my grids in plain rows?

Staggered columns and rows of equal height are arranged by Plinth's script. If it cannot run (an old browser, or scripts turned off), grids show as plain rows of cards with every work whole. Even squares need no script.

The header over the image doesn't float on my page.

It floats only on a page with the Landing page template whose first block is a hero banner: an Asset block with the Hero banner template, or a BlockSuite hero. Elsewhere it is a top bar. Choose a Logo for dark mode so a light logo shows on the dark band.

My logo disappears in dark mode.

Add a light version of the logo under Dark mode › Logo for dark mode.

Where do I choose what appears on item pages?

Under Theme › Configure resource pages. See Item pages and wall labels and Item and media pages.

Why is my link preview on social media missing an image?

Choose a Default sharing image under Site icon & sharing, or a site thumbnail. Social networks keep previews for a while; their sharing debuggers can refresh them.

How do I translate the theme into my language?

See Languages and translation.

A module's page doesn't match the theme.

Most module pages inherit Plinth's styles. If something looks out of place, adjust it under Advanced › Custom CSS using the design tokens, and tell RefBytes which module and page it is.
