Settings in Site icon & sharing.
Site icon
The Site icon appears in browser tabs and bookmarks, and as the app icon when a visitor adds the site to a phone's home screen. Use a square PNG of at least 512 × 512 pixels, or an SVG. Upload it as an asset (in the asset picker or under Assets).
Sharing image
The Default sharing image appears with links to your site on social media and in messaging apps, when the shared page has no image of its own. Items, media and item sets use their own image; pages and browse pages use this one. A 1200 × 630 pixel image works best. If you leave it empty, the site's thumbnail (Site admin › Site info) is used.
Search engine and sharing tags
Every page gets these tags (in themes that show Add search engine and sharing tags, as long as it is on, the default):
- a description: the item's description, the text of the page's first HTML block, or the site summary (Site admin › Site info);
- link preview tags (Open Graph and Twitter cards): title, description, image and the site's name;
- a canonical address on item, media, item set and site pages, so search engines treat every address of a page as one page.
The address bar on phones also takes your header color.
If a module already adds some of these tags, for example an SEO or social sharing module, the theme leaves those tags as they are and only adds the ones that are missing. Turn the setting off only if another module manages all of them.
The description comes from your content, so keeping item descriptions and the site summary up to date improves how your site appears in search results.
